Requisition Summary

This position will be responsible for performing all fabrication on various sizes, shapes and structures within the R&D Department at Peterbilt Division, Denton, Texas. Duties require a broad knowledge of Fabrication Technology, Engineering Software and procedures. 


Job Functions / Responsibilities required to perform the job

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and make recommendations to engineering personnel for improvements to manufacturability and performance.
  • Ability to select welding and other fabrication procedures in accordance with type of work materials, sizes, and shapes involved on diversified assemblies, products, or structures. 
  • Ability to set up, adjust and operate a variety of machine tools requiring close tolerance work.
  • Ability to inspect own work for conformance with specifications, using gauges, templates or other measuring devices.
  • Ability to work confidently and successfully under minimal supervision.


Note:  The following shall apply in reference to Welding Certification:

  1. Welding Certification Test will be the American Welding Society Test.
  2. Welding Test is a three-step process:  A Written Test; A Practical Experience judged by Level One or Two Visual Inspectors; and upon passage of the first two steps - A Certification Test judged by an outside Laboratory.   

 **You DO NOT have to be certified to apply.  Limited Training will be provided**.   


 Marginal Functions (may perform, desirable):

  • Previous CNC Operation and Programming is preferred.
  • Commercial Drivers’ License is desirable, capability to obtain a Class B License is required.
  • CREO/PRO-E/Windchill Experience is desirable.
  • Microsoft Office Software proficiency is desirable.
  • May perform other related duties as assigned. 



High School Diploma or GED required, three-five years related experience required, Accredited Welding Certificate or ability to pass Company Certification Tests prior to job offer required.  Appropriate Technical School Training preferred.
