Requisition Summary

The main function of a Safety and Compliance Engineer is to provide regulatory compliance and safety assessment guidance to Product Design Engineering and to provide technical support to the PACCAR Law Department.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Evaluates new designs for compliance to federal regulations.
  • Evaluates current product to regulatory changes for compliance.
  • Evaluates chassis and warranty records related to vehicles in litigation.
  • May represent Peterbilt at depositions and trials.
  • Manages multiple tasks, coordinates with multiple PACCAR divisions, and prioritizes responses.
  • Responds to demand letters prior to litigation in coordination with dealership service departments and/or Peterbilt Field and Customer Service.
  • Coordinate with Field Service regarding potential litigation.
  • Responds in a timely manner to PACCAR Law Department for drawing, procedural, or process related requests.
  • Coordinates with all facets of the corporation (i.e. Product Design Engineering, Quality Assurance, Production, Aftersales, Sales, etc.)  to conduct product defect investigations.
  • Up to 5% travel is expected.

  

Qualifications

  • Strong heavy-duty truck product knowledge, manufacturing and process knowledge required.
  • Seven or more years of engineering experience, preferably with PACCAR.
  • Seven years of design, manufacturing or applications experience preferred.
  • Proficiency with OPS, COPICS, Word, Excel, warranty system and DealerNet strongly preferred.
  • Knowledge of PACCAR Corporate Standards, Peterbilt Design Bulletins, Manufacturing Standards, Operating Procedures, and Industry Standards preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills required.

Education

A Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, or a related field, is required.
