Requisition Summary

Manage Zero Emissions and Advanced Clean Fuel Technology planning for Peterbilt’s Class 8 and Medium Duty platforms.  Development of strategies for target market segments including the definition of new and current technology to meet sales and profit objectives. Customer research will involve market immersion interviews, product clinics, customer satisfaction surveys, product gap analyses, and other ad hoc studies for the development of the long-range product plan, product concept proposals, Books of Wishes, Product Description Books, and business plans.  Product definition will include aftermarket and product retirement strategies, and full life cycle costs. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Analyzes and defines each of the major market segments to include product, services and technology specifications, competitive products, and associated pricing levels.
  • Develops, maintains, and manages a comprehensive technology brand strategy for the product and family, including future product development requirements and ideas.
  • Routinely reviews REI’s and OAR’s for possible future prioritization in the product plan.    
  • Works with Marketing Planning, Sales and Marketing Administration, and Marketing Communications to incorporate the brand strategies into their respective planning activities.
  • Writes/updates the Book of Wishes and works with Engineering and Program Management to develop, write, and contribute to the Tollgate Product Creation Process including Passport documents, Product Description Book, Business Plans, and financial analysis.
  • Participates in major product and non-product projects, as assigned. 
  • Market share, product margins and customer satisfaction will be key measurement factors for performance achievement.
  • 20% travel required, including international.

Skills/ Competencies

  • Class 8 and Medium Duty product experience is required.
  • Knowledge of advanced vehicle systems including battery electric, hybridization technologies, and fuel cell technologies.
  • Six to eight years directly related experience desired, preferably possessing two years with PACCAR. 
  • Six Sigma greenbelt or blackbelt certification preferred. 
  • Strong ability to communicate highly technical information in an easy to interpret manner.
  • Must have excellent analytical, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate and present information to many areas and levels of the organization
  • Identify and coordinate product and non-product actions to maximize customer satisfaction as reported by Peterbilt’s customer satisfaction program, other external CSI reports, and Peterbilt warranty.

 

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Business Administration is required.  MBA or Masters in Engineering is preferred, or significant progress towards completion will be considered.
