Requisition Summary

The purpose of PACCAR’s Production Part Approval (PPAP) Process is to assure that purchased parts, components, and assemblies meet PACCAR drawings and specifications prior to the supplier’s shipment of production parts to PACCAR facilities.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • The PPAP Process includes mechanical inspections of parts and documentation of manufacturing and testing procedures
  • The PPAP process contains components of first article inspection or first piece setup inspection
  • Conduct dimensional inspection of PPAP sample components using surface Hand tools, plate inspection tools and CMM Equipment
  • Evaluation of testing results and supporting documentation of PPAP samples to determine conformance to PACCAR PPAP requirements.
  • Creation and maintenance of PPAP files and documentation in support of PACCAR PPAP guidelines.
  • Provide technical assistance to supplier, customers, and internal personnel for understanding of PPAP requirements.
  • Verify lower component supplier PPAP approval status and generate, track, inspect and approve PPAP requests for unapproved lower level components.
  • Request BOM, SRDC, and part number loading
  • Submit PPAP documentation to PACCAR using PPS
  • Provide analytical support to Peterbilt process owners regarding product / process quality issues
  • Identify and facilitate improvement initiatives utilizing customer/internal feedback to help identify opportunities to resolve quality/production issues
  • Ensure all Peterbilt standards are maintained.
  • Participate in developing and executing Quality department goals and objectives 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Preferred Education and skills: 

  • Project management experience
  • SAP experience
  • Lean / Six Sigma training/experience
  • Five Years related experience in Truck Manufacturing or 3 years directly related experience.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in mechanical inspection
  • BS or BA in related field or currently enrolled in degree program.
  • Demonstrate Math skills proficiency, ability to interpret Engineering Drawings, manufacturing Standards, Knowledge of Metric System and Conversions to English System.
  • Basic GD&T knowledge
  • Basic Pro E knowledge
  • Ability to read engineering blueprints and technical specifications and translate into part and process requirements.
  • Ability to use a wide variety of mechanical inspection equipment, including CMM’s for inspection of mechanical assemblies.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office Software
  • Preferred experience with SAP and/or PACCAR Purchasing System (PPS), and familiarity with Minitab or equivalent
  • Strong organizational, written, oral and interpersonal communication skills required.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects at one time. 
  • Requires the ability to prioritize work load based on changing goals and focus.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate team efforts and work under minimal supervision
  • Must be able to lift 20 lbs.

Education

Four-year degree is preferred.
