Requisition Summary
Seeking energetic, independent engineer with interest in creating, defining, and launching the next generation of industry-leading trucks. Primary responsibility will be providing subject matter expert guidance to the PACCAR organization through the position of a Noise Vibration Harshness (NVH) Test and Simulation Engineer in the Vehicle Performance group.
Job Description
The NVH Engineer will be responsible for activities related to the NVH Property at Peterbilt in Denton, Texas. Duties include establishing product targets, developing and utilizing NVH simulation capabilities, conducting research and development, baselining and benchmarking current and competitive products, assisting in the development of NVH metrics and test methods, providing problem resolutions, providing new product guidance and support, and supporting various aspects of Vehicle Properties and Performance.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include but may not be limited to:
- Develop NVH simulation models, statistical energy analysis capabilities, system level analysis libraries, and conduct simulations ranging from component level to full vehicle
- Conduct NVH investigations and develop test metrics, methods, and performance targets
- Function as a Subject Matter Expert in NVH
- Direct and/or conduct research, concept development, and methodologies related to NVH
- Support early definition of new products and continue with on-going support throughout the development process.
- Meet routinely with Product Planning, Engineering, Management, and Property Owners to advocate for product improvements
- Track and report on status of achieving program goals related to NVH Performance
- Utilize PTC Creo, Altair Optistruct, Simulia Abaqus, MATLAB, and proprietary FE libraries as design and analysis tools
Qualifications & Skills
- Knowledge of and/or experienced in heavy truck components and systems
- Previous design experience of parts and assemblies
- Knowledge and understanding of NVH terminology and testing
- Strength in handling multiple tasks and projects
- Proficient and/or experienced in creating analysis tools in MATLAB with data imported from various data acquisition systems
- Proficient with MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Proficient and/or experienced with NVH modeling utilizing one or more of either Altair OptiStruct, MSCNASTRAN, Simulia Abaqus, Simulia Wave6, Hexagon Actran, and/or Siemens SimCenter3D
- Proficient and/or experienced in collecting data utilizing Siemens LMS SCADAS mobile and/or HEAD SQuadriga data acquisition systems
- Proficient and/or experienced in conducting data analysis and generating graphs/charts using Siemens TestLab and/or HEAD Artemis
- Proficient and/or experienced with PTC Creo, Catia, and/or SolidWorks
- Experience presenting to Sr. Management and leading others through non-direct reporting roles
- Project management skills, including interfacing with Engineering, Product Planning, and Management
- Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL-A) or strong desire to obtain
Education
- BS in Engineering or related field required; MS in Engineering or related field and PE license preferred
