Requisition Summary

Do you want to help shape Peterbilt’s future electric powered vehicles?  The Advance Design team is looking for a Mechanical Engineer with interest in supporting innovative design development.  Duties involve interface with the PACCAR Technical Center, PACCAR Vehicle Electric Powertrain Team, Product Planning, Marketing & Sales, and Management to evaluate customer requirements and definition of vehicle level targets that support launching the next generation of industry leading trucks.  Scope of work includes working on new development programs, analysis of potential new product designs, employing innovative skills to mature ideas from concepts, problem resolution, and other engineering duties supporting various aspects of product development. The Battery Enclosure will house the Batteries, Thermal Hoses, and Low and High Voltage Cables. This position will focus on compact packaging of a module that can be installed in the factory

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Lead design effort to deliver common mounting and component strategies
  • Support development of Product Description Books (PDBs) for engineering projects, establishing project scope, vehicle requirements, and performance targets
  • Completion of six sigma documentation in assigned phases of project
  • Prepare engineering activity status reports and other detailed reporting as directed

Skills / Competencies

 

  • Knowledge of and/or experience in heavy truck components and systems is preferred
  • Thorough knowledge and experience with CREO, Pro Cabling and Pro Piping recommended
  • Experience coordinating prototyping of parts required
  • Experience coordinating supplier activities required
  • Experience coordinating pilot activities required
  • Demonstrate ability to handle multiple tasks, ability to learn on the fly, and adapt to change
  • Demonstrate professional and successful communication skills (verbal/written) with strong, effective interpersonal abilities
  • Applying standard engineering techniques with minimal supervision
  • Proficiency with PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and related computer software.
  • Requires a proactive approach to defining issues and reaching early resolution and consensus
  • New graduates through experienced engineers are encouraged to apply.  Compensation will be determined by related experience and education. 

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related degree is required.
