Requisition Summary

This position reports to the Advanced Manufacturing Department within Peterbilt Motors Company. This position is directly responsible for supervising Advanced Manufacturing Engineers responsible for the activities related to manufacturing preparation for building new Chassis and Powertrain systems and components.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of Advanced Manufacturing Engineering to perform activities associated with executing PACCAR factory requirements for new Chassis and Powertrain systems and components. This includes but is not limited to budget requirements, brick and mortar changes, validation equipment, training, logistics packaging, product flow, and infrastructure development.
  • Supervise work produced by team members to ensure it is error free and up to design standards.
  • Provide guidance to team members to improve performance and assist with career advancement.
  • Collaboratively influence product designs to meet the requirements of the PACCAR assembly plants.
  • Provide manufacturing input in heavy duty and medium duty vehicle design development and launch process. This includes but is not limited to assembly process, manufacturing standards, safety standards, logistics, software development, and vehicle system validation.
  • Communicate pertinent information to PACCAR impacted factories. Coordinate plant input and feedback.

Job Functions / Responsibilities Cont.

  • Track and report critical metrics (readiness, defects, documentation, communication).
  • Manage completion of manufacturing deliverables required by PCP/Tollgate Phase and program schedule.
  • Support assembly plant initiatives to drive increased safety, productivity, and efficiency.
  • Manage manufacturing program budgets and execute usage of funds on time.
  • Lead validation and launch events for new products.
  • Lead the design, validation, and implementation of logistics solutions for new products.
  • Up to 25% Travel can be expected.

Skills

  • A highly motivated self-starter with proven track record leading successful projects.
  • Proficiency in the ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Demonstrate professional and successful communication skills (verbal/written).
  • Having a background with the following is a plus:
    • Project Management
    • Six Sigma Certified Belt
    • Strong PACCAR manufacturing experience
    • Strong heavy equipment manufacturing experience
    • Thorough knowledge of PACCAR products and the PCP Tollgate process

Qualifications

Required: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering
  • Eight or more years of engineering experience
  • One to three years of experience in a supervisory role
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills

Preferred: 

  • Master’s degree is preferred
