Job Functions/Responsibilities

  • Communicate with dealers, body builders and customers in a professional manor to meet or exceed their vehicle spec’ing needs.
  • Provide customer assistance on gearing and engine rating recommendations to meet the customer’s engine optimization goals.
  • Participate in customer reviews assisting as the technical resource supporting the Vocational Sales Department.
  • Work with engineering groups on various design projects and customer related issues sharing input from an Applications perspective.
  • Assist in the creation of applications guidelines and the review of supplier guidelines.
  • Support other department needs such as layouts, pictures, etc. to be added to Engineering Data Book and other documentation.
  • Interface with other PACCAR divisions representing Peterbilt’s requirements on various application related subjects.
  • Be able to software for testing and parameter setting: PVP (PACCAR Vehicle Pro for chassis components as well as MX engine parameters), Insite (for Cummins engine parameters), ESA (Electronic Service Analyst for CECU based parameters), EASOP/PROSPECTOR tools for gearing optimization, etc.
  • Thorough understanding of PTO operation and controls (both MX and Cummins processes).
  • Familiarity with Controller Area Network (CAN) bus systems. Including physical network structure as well as J1939 and TSC1 protocol.
  • Ability to read and understand PACCAR electrical drawings and schematics.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s degree preferred
  • 4+ years of industry-related background in the design and specification of automotive components
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team to achieve timely objectives.
  • Extensive knowledge and use of PACCAR systems such as Pro-E, COPICS, OPS, EASOP, PCMS Davie, Insight PVP, & ESA preferred. Knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint is required.
  • Job requires travel (approximately 35%)
