Requisition Summary

This position will be responsible for the application, evaluation, development, installation, project management, commissioning, and system management of manufacturing industrial automation and control systems, which includes machinery and processes. Directs group’s efforts to align with product needs, safety requirements, plant operation’s needs, budget, and timing; under general supervision.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Leads or represents Manufacturing Engineering on equipment/process/product development and enhancement projects.
  • Identifies and implements continuous improvement initiatives for equipment.
  • Serves as mentor to other Controls Engineers and Technicians within group.
  • Evaluates and recommends vendors, components, and equipment for changes to manufacturing processes.
  • Prepares and implements complex layouts and studies of plant equipment control systems.
  • Reviews engineering designs for equipment operation and recommends changes, as necessary.
  • Supports project MEs with technical resources and direction.
  • Supports Production by troubleshooting technical issues related to process and components.
  • Demonstrates professional and successful communication skills (verbal/written) with strong, effective interpersonal abilities.
  • Supports Production by participating in other duties as assigned to meet Production expectations.
  • Supports PACCAR Connected Manufacturing and Business Continuity efforts.
  • Must be able to support other group initiatives such as IT, Production, QA, and Corporate activities.
  • Leads plant projects and teams as well as teams from other PACCAR facilities across all areas.
  • Works weekends/holidays or non-shift hours and travels as required to support Production and project implementations.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Manufacturing Engineering or appropriate major required. 
  • Masters in Engineering/Business or PE preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability gained through 7 years of experience in related assignments (preferred), preferably possessing 2 to 3 years with PACCAR.
  • Experience implementing new equipment or products required.
  • Experience coordinating with and/or directing supplier/vendor activities required.
  • Experience with Inductive Ignition and Rockwell Factory Talk applications, including Studio 5000, FT View, RSLinx, and Ethernet/IP.
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong cause-effect analytical abilities to solve problems

Education

B.S. Mechanical/Electrical/Manufacturing Engineering degree or appropriate major required. 

MBA or Masters in Engineering preferred.
