Requisition Summary

A Commodity Manager will negotiate and manage all aspects of PACCAR’s relationship with suppliers, including the commercial/contractual requirements with respect to total quality, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics and total cost. Commodity Managers are change agents, focused on delivering the highest value to internal and external customers at the lowest total cost.

This position will be responsible for managing PACCAR’s molded composite products and suppliers and will be located in Denton, TX.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop, negotiate, and implement strategies resulting in improved supply chain performance, enhanced product quality and lowest total costs.
  • Investigate, evaluate, and implement new technologies, and logistics opportunities.
  • Negotiate and assure supplier compliance to long-term supply and warranty agreements.
  • Issue formal Requests For Information, Proposals and Quotes (RFI’s, RFP’s, and RFQ’s), and analyze supplier responses to select suppliers that meet or exceed PACCAR requirements.
  • Collaborate with PACCAR operations and Division personnel to successfully develop and execute global supply chain and commodity strategies.
  • Communicate and conduct meetings and formal presentations with suppliers, plant, and Division personnel at all management levels.
  • Travel to supplier locations in order to evaluate capabilities, assess production readiness, investigate new opportunities, improve manufacturing efficiencies and resolve chronic supply issues.
  • Travel to PACCAR’s global operating locations in support of the above activities.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Purchasing, Marketing, Engineering, Materials or related PACCAR experience.
  • Excellent analytical skills required. Advanced Excel capabilities required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required
  • Creative, self-motivated quality and results-driven work ethic
  • Excellent interpersonal skills required. Negotiations experience a plus.
  • PC skills (Word, Excel, Access, & PowerPoint) required.
  • Understanding of Fiberglass and other Composite materials and production processes a plus.
  • Project Team participation and/or Project Management experience preferred.


  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration or related field required, MBA preferred
