The Business Continuity Manager is responsible for the management, development and implementation of a Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) throughout the organization.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Plan for, mitigate, respond to, and recovery from significant incidents that affect the organization
  • Develop and maintain requirements for ISO 22301:2019 certification
  • Align key stakeholders on a risk-based strategy and roadmap to mature organizational resiliency
  • Set the Business Continuity Policy and ensure it is documented and aligned with the organization’s strategic objectives
  • Coordinate incident response activities during activation of the Business Continuity Plan
  • Coordinate business units and production areas with a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) to identify critical time-sensitive functions and assigning Recovery Time Objectives (RTOs)
  • Partner with IT Disaster Recovery (IT-DR), Emergency Response (ER), and other related programs to assure proactive planning and optimal response capability
  • Recommend recovery strategies and options to assist with the implementation of recovery solutions
  • Establish practical and effective escalation processes, paths, and tools
  • Coordinate and facilitate business continuity exercises and testing
  • Develop schedules for awareness / training for organizational and business units

  • Experience with business continuity standards (e.g. ISO 22301:2019)

  • Experience in managing a complex business continuity program
  • Experience with conducting risk assessments on critical business processes or operating locations
  • Familiar with National Incident Management System (NIMS) and Incident Command System (ICS)
  • Experience with business continuity technology solutions to assist in program planning
  • Experience in developing, refining and coordinating enterprise-wide policies and procedures
  • Strong knowledge of local, state and federal emergency management organizations
  • Working knowledge of business continuity operations, concepts, and methodologies

Education

  • Bachelors Degree required (preferably in a related field)
  • Minimum 5 years experience working in business continuity or related field
  • DRI Certified Business Continuity Planner (CBCP) preferred
