Requisition Summary

Peterbilt Motors Company is looking for an Advanced Manufacturing Engineer to work in Denton, Texas. 

Provide Manufacturing Engineering support to assigned departments. Studies facilities and production processes, making recommendations to improve production efficiency, enhance process capability, improve product / process quality, and reduce manufacturing costs under general supervision.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Provide manufacturing support and input to design engineering.
  • Review proposed engineering designs for manufacturing feasibility and recommend revisions as necessary to ensure Design for Manufacturing and Assembly.
  • Review drawings for manufacturing using the PTC Windchill environment. 
  • Actively participate in the new product development and launch process.
  • Coordinate plant input and feedback.
  • Provide manufacturing input to design engineers using Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DFMA) and Design for Six Sigma (DFSS) tools.
  • Assist in Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEA) and help lead Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Participate and lead manufacturing technical, concept, and design reviews.
  • Facilitate Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Assist in the manufacturing process and supplier selection.
  • Assist in development of capital tooling/budget proposals.
  • Assist in labor studies and line balancing activities.
  • Assist in the supplier tooling interface up to and including PPAP and production launch.
  • Work with various groups to investigate, propose, and implement improvements to equipment and processes to improve quality, optimize processes, increase productivity, and reduce costs.
  • Improve safety and ergonomic practices through part and assembly design.
  • Keep customers, managers, and peers informed of work progress, activities, problems, and opportunities.

Qualifications / Skills

The successful candidate will have five or more years of engineering experience, preferably with one to three years of manufacturing/industrial engineering or design for manufacturability experience. A highly motivated self-starter with proven track record leading successful projects. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.

A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering is required.

  • Degrees in Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering are preferred.

Having a background with the following systems / software is a plus:

  • Six Sigma Certified Belt (Lean, Green, Black, or DFSS)
  • Project Management
  • Creo Parametric
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, OneNote, etc.)
