Requisition Summary

Peterbilt's Advanced Manufacturing Engineering team is hiring for a Truck Software Development Engineer. Successful candidates will be dynamic, driven and energized to create and own processes and infrastructure. Experience in leading successful start-up projects and working across various departments and levels of management is highly desired in this unique role. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in truck software development and launch process
  • Provide manufacturing input throughout software development, testing, and factory system readiness
  • Familiarity with all truck software deployed in production (MX, Cummins, DAVIE, VEPS, Eaton, Allison, ESA, NAMux, Bendix, Wabco, VECU, CALID/CVN, ELF, Parameters, etc.)
  • Interface with all software providers (DAVIE, Embedded Engr., MX/DAF, Suppliers, etc.).  Remain abreast of upcoming changes and impact to plant processes.
  • Communicate with plant management
  • Coordinate plant input and feedback
  • Track & report critical software deployment metrics (readiness, defects, First-Pass Yield (FPY), documentation, communication, etc.)
  • Drive Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and implement solutions to improve future truck software deployments
  • Document issues in HPQC and PLR systems
  • Develop processes and predictive metrics for program/project readiness prior to production implementation
  • Review and approve engineering software drawings
  • Support and actively participate in PCP Tollgate process
  • Initiate and lead 6-Sigma process improvement projects
  • Less than 10% travel may be required to other PACCAR locations, both domestically and internationally

 

Qualifications

The successful candidate will have five or more years of engineering experience, preferably with one to three years of manufacturing/industrial engineering or design for manufacturability experience. 

A highly motivated self-starter with proven track record leading successful projects.

Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills required.  

Having a background with the following systems/software is a plus:

  • Truck Programming (DAVIE, VEPS, ESA, NAMUX, VSP)
  • Truck Diagnostics (DAVIE, Insite, ESA, Acom, Service Ranger, Allison, Wabco)
  • Project Management
  • Six Sigma Certified Belt

Education

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required; degrees in Manufacturing, Industrial, Electrical, Mechanical Engineering are preferred.
