Job Summary

Promotes plant Health and Safety programs primarily on the evening shift and occasional weekends to include accident prevention, safety training, hazardous material management, ergonomics, and plant emergency team.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations and Engine and Remanufacturing safety and environmental programs.
  • Provide Health and Safety technical and regulatory support to evening shift.
  • Partner with operations staff to investigate accidents to identify causes; determine how such accidents might be prevented; and recommend corrective actions.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Health and Safety, a “Safety First” culture and compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Develop a trusting working relationship with plant floor employees.
  • Facilitate the development of safe work teams and provide guidance to the teams.
  • Active participation in plant’s Emergency Response and Business Continuity Plan Teams.
  • Conduct monthly safety inspections; coordinate with operations staff to correct deficiencies.
  • Implement proactive programs and processes to reduce the injury rate.

  • Position works in an office environment within a production facility. Job incumbent must be able to work in areas that are hot or cold, surfaces may be slippery, climb ladders/stairs.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, and feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, and peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust and focus.
  • When working in the plant, the work environment has moderate noise levels.
  • Training and improvement initiatives may require candidate to travel via automobile or aircraft.

 

Qualifications

  • One (1) year or more of direct experience working in a safety role required
  • Three to Five plus years in a manufacturing environment with experience preferred but not required
  • Safety and/or Environmental certifications a plus
  • Experience developing safety programs including working through high-performance teams to successfully implement initiatives, in a preferred manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work within and through organization using influence and client management skills.
  • Strong Organizational, Written, Verbal and group or individual Presentation skills.
  • Work with incident management system.

Education

· Bachelor's degree required.

· Strong computer skills with an advanced level of experience in Microsoft Office, i.e., Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Publisher.

· Ability to maintain confidentiality is essential.

· Ability to interact with all levels of management, and representatives of the company as well as dealers and customers.

· Excellent organizational skills, exhibit a professional demeanor, and possess strong interpersonal skills.

· Ability to work independently and manage multiple deadlines.

· Strong communication skills

· Must meet physical requirements of the position with or without accommodation.
