Requisition Summary

PACCAR is seeking Payroll Accountant that is a self-motivated, enthusiastic individual looking for a career in a company that encourages growth and development.  You will work with talented colleagues around the U.S gaining valuable payroll and accounting experience while discovering a culture built around integrity and respect.

If you are a highly organized and experienced professional a Payroll Accountant is responsible for supporting weekly multi-state payroll functions, including related federal, state and local payroll tax reporting. This individual must have the ability to perform "hands-on" payroll processing. Ability to understand the big picture including general accounting practices, journal entries and general ledger accounts.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Some of the responsibilities of a Payroll Accountant can be, but not limited to the following:
• Acting as payroll accountant and performs all related tasks associated with the processing of payroll, including processing manual, non-standard or correction transactions.
• Auditing and analytical activities involved in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of payroll.
• Ensuring garnishments and other statutory mandated deductions are processed accurately.
• Overseeing accurate payroll interfaces. Inspects automated systems output such as registers and reports.
• Maintaining employee payroll records in SAP which includes auditing and reconciling and researching discrepancies
• Preparing accounting transactions and documents.
• Accuracy and integrity of G/L Accounts applicable to payroll; reconcile payroll-related general ledger accounts and may assist with reconciling other general ledger accounts as needed.
• Providing payroll data for inclusion in financial statements; research and prepare special reports for management.
• Developing, documenting and updating procedures related to functional responsibilities.
• Working closely with PACCAR divisions across the U.S. including Human Resources, Accounting and Benefits; Participate in cross-functional project groups as necessary
• Reconciling payroll auditing reports prior to bank transmission and validates confirmed reports.
• Maintaining expert working knowledge of proper taxation of employer paid benefits.
• Building a personal reputation for trustworthiness as well as diligent, quality and timely work results
• Performing off-cycle payroll runs
• Acting as back-up to the Payroll Scheduler on regular bi-weekly payroll runs
• Auditing personnel files for compliance with company policy, procedures and authorizations
• Assisting with Sarbanes-Oxley audits

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting preferred, qualified to sit for the CPA and if CPA certified that is a plus.
• Accounting review and reconciliations experience
• Demonstrated ability to identify, research, analyze and resolve discrepancies
• Identify, research and resolve data errors, understand and communicate impact to others
• Proficient in Excel
• SAP experience desired
• Clear verbal and written communication
• Ability to work with flexible priorities and sometimes short deadlines
• High degree of professionalism
