Requisition Summary

The Logistics Planning Manager is responsible for managing the Transportation Management System (TMS), the primary tool used for optimizing, planning, and communicating routing decisions. This position manages a team of logistics professionals in the PACCAR Logistics Center. The Logistics Planning Manager is responsible for establishing performance standards and objectives for the Logistics Planning staff that support overall operating objectives. The person in this role will monitor and report staff performance on meeting identified objectives and goals. The position will also identify process improvement opportunities and develop plans to increase organizational productivity, efficiency, and effectiveness. The Logistics Planning Manager will lead logistics improvement efforts across functional teams to optimize total freight costs.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Direct management responsibilities of TMS and Corporate Logistics Planners to drive daily integrated planning that optimizes end to end logistics support levels and cost.
  • Define metrics to measure transportation performance and use data to conduct analysis to support continuous improvement across supply chain
  • Responsible for identification of cost savings opportunities within the supply chain network and contributing to overall logistics savings goals.
  • Drive implementation of logistics procedures and network strategies across the Logistics Center, and plants.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with Plant Traffic, Plan Division Materials, Supplier Quality, Purchasing and ITD personnel
  • Systematically escalate problems or variance in the data or processes to the Assistant Director of Logistics to follow thought on the resolution of complex logistics issues

 

Qualifications and Skills

  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities and proven ability to lead employees through complex projects in a fast pace environment
  • Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities, work well under pressure while meeting deadlines, mitigate failure, make decisions, and drive change
  • Strong system and database knowledge along with experience in transportation management systems and logistics preferred
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, Access, PowerPoint and Tableau
  • Mainframe SAP Transportation Management System experience preferred
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma/Lean tools and processes
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills

 

Education

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics and Transportation or related field required
