 REQUISITION SUMMARY

To provide procurement and managerial leadership of the North American Information Technologies and Advanced Vehicle Systems purchasing groups for the attainment of corporate purchasing objectives. Duties include leadership of purchasing staff, commercial negotiations, business award, and program execution with suppliers to meet PACCAR requirements. Regular interface with PACCAR and supplier executive leaders is expected.

 

 

JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES 

Manage all aspects of the company’s relationship with a group of suppliers that provide critical battery electric, hydrogen fuel cell, and connected vehicle products and services. Facilitate the commercial discussions and contract closure with technology vendors for the PACCAR organization globally. This includes infrastructure, cloud storage, security, applications, etc. Additionally, manage Advanced Purchasing Program Management staff and purchasing actions related to upcoming vehicle programs.  The Director of Purchasing will manage, coach and develop a team of Assistant Directors and Commodity Managers responsible for strategic supply base management:

 

  • Supplier Negotiations: Provide leadership for all aspects of supplier negotiation from price to the development and implementation of formalized contracts (e.g. Long Term Agreement, Statement of Work, Design Development Agreement, Service Agreements).
  • Supplier Selection: Engage with engineering, program management, and others departments to establish requirements with respect to product cost, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics and quality. Oversee market tests and selection decisions utilizing six-sigma methodologies.
  • Supplier Performance Management: Manage ongoing supplier performance using cross-functional performance metrics. Drive continuous improvement and define corrective actions.
  • Commodity Strategies: Develop and implement commodity strategies in alignment with PACCAR business needs and global purchasing requirements.
  • Risk Management: Monitor suppliers, market, and industries for potential market changes and make changes to strategies and sourcing to mitigate risk to PACCAR.

 

Cost Management

  • Cost Reduction Plans: Develop and implement plans to achieve Purchasing cost reduction goals.
  • Material Cost Excellence: Utilize the MCE toolkit to identify and implement creative cost reduction opportunities.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use a six-sigma / lean approach to drive for continuous improvement in the supply chain and associated processes for cost reduction implementation.

 

Leadership

  • Performance Management: Lead, manage, develop, and coach employees within department. Identify new talent via an internal and external network to strengthen the purchasing team

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance, or related field
  • Master’s degree required (e.g. MS, MBA)
  • 10 years of purchasing, supply chain, engineering, or related experience required
  • Experience with original equipment part purchasing, design, manufacturing, and/or supply chain management. Commercial transportation, heavy equipment, or automotive industry, experience is a plus.
  • Experience with technology and/or professional service negotiations including SaaS and Cloud Agreements
  • Managerial experience including demonstrated leadership to accomplish corporate objectives.
  • Proven negotiation and strong analytical skills
  • Project Team participation and / or Project Management experience
  • Excellent communication & presentation skills.
  • Available to travel (domestic and international)
  • International business and best cost country sourcing experience preferred.
  • Creative, quality and results-driven work ethic

The salary range for Director of Purchasing - Information Technology & Advanced Vehicle Systemis $120,500-$212,000 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above.
