Position Overview:

The position of Director of Construction reports directly to the Executive Director, Corporate Property and Environment. Other executives reporting to the Executive Director are the Director of Aviation, Corporate Facilities Manager, and Director of Property and Environment The position is responsible for overseeing multiple large design and construction projects, assisting and advising on myriad new facility construction and facility expansion projects worldwide, and ensuring compliance with the corporate capital budgeting processing procedures.

 

In addition to the facilities and environmental responsibilities, the Corporate Property and Environmental group also has responsibility for corporate aviation, real estate acquisitions and dispositions, corporate headquarters facility operations, security, executive meeting planning, and ancillary corporate property operations. This position may have responsibilities and projects assigned regarding these areas. The position is located at PACCAR corporate headquarters in Bellevue, Washington and will require frequent domestic and international travel.

 

Experience and Educational Requirements:

The position will require a minimum of ten years of relevant corporate owner-user experience in managing the design and construction of large capital projects. Project types should include manufacturing facilities as well as supporting facilities such as warehouses, offices, and truck repair centers. Experience should include industrial and commercial project types.

 

Education requirements include a minimum of a four-year college degree, preferably in architecture, engineering, or construction management. An MBA is desired. A proven understanding and capability in project cost control and capital budgeting is a requirement.

 

PACCAR's strong international presence and the global diversification of facilities will require leadership of international projects and international project experience is required.

 

Management Skills:

Successful candidates for this position will have already-developed skills in corporate communications and have the interpersonal skills necessary to provide effective leadership within that environment. This will require the ability to manage in dynamic situations where accountabilities and responsibilities often impact others and clear communication is essential. The successful candidate will be able to develop and execute project plans, clearly communicate goals and objectives, manage change, and lead projects to successful conclusions. Candidates must have excellent presentation skills and be able to develop productive working relationships with a broad spectrum of managers both internal and external to the company.
