Requisition Summary

Work with a diverse team to classify products for US and Canadian import and export shipments.  Interpret Customs rulings, explanatory notes, and technical product drawing to determine correct classifications for international shipments.  Maintain legal references supporting internal and external audits. Ensure that the product database and business systems are populated with up-to-date product classifications.  Support other Customs processes as part of the International Trade Compliance Team. PACCAR provides access to excellent training programs in-house and with partnering organizations. Candidates should have high attention to detail and demonstrate a drive towards continuous improvement.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Classify PACCAR materials and trucks with proper US and Canada Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) codes.
  • Respond to HTS requests from Customs brokers and PACCAR employees for live shipments.
  • Maintain SAP GTS classification database for imports, exports, and free trade agreements.
  • Engage Engineering, Purchasing, and other departments to streamline the collection of data.
  • Provide tariffs and duty rates to PACCAR employees for pricing calculations.
  • Maintain classification database with legal references and audit notes.
  • Provide classification research assistance for audits and customs requests.
  • Ensure classifications are updated in business systems used by PACCAR Divisions and service providers.
  • Develop and maintain classification process and procedures.
  • Provide support to other Trade Compliance Department objectives as needed.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • 3 years US and Canada Harmonized Tariff Classification experience required.
  • Combination of education and experience will be considered.  Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics or Related field preferred. 
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and legal rulings.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work with a sense of urgency.
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks to completion simultaneously.
  • Working knowledge of US Customs laws preferred.
  • Licensed Customs Broker preferred.
  • Knowledge of automotive products preferred.
  • Experience with SAP, MSAccess, AS400 preferred.
