Requisition Summary

PACCAR is seeking an Assistant Director of Purchasing to support procurement and supervisory leadership of an Indirect purchasing group including Global Travel, HR, and Professional Services for the attainment of corporate purchasing objectives.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Manage all aspects of PACCAR’s relationship with a group of suppliers.  Manage, coach and develop a team of Commodity Managers responsible for:

  • The Global PACCAR Travel program, owning and driving the daily operations and program strategy to control costs and mitigate risk.
  • Supporting Program Management, Marketing, HR, and Facilities in the execution of divisional projects and programs.
  • Manages Shared Services programs for PACCAR such as; Global Travel, Marketing, Human Resources and Facilities.
  • Oversight of strategy and delivery of traveler communication and education to ensure understanding of processes, procedures, and policy compliance.
  • Partnering with key departments and stakeholders, both internal and external, to service the business and maintain a best-in-class travel & expense program. Internal partners: Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, All Department Leaders. External partners: Concur, travel management and preferred suppliers.
  • Supplier negotiation and establishment of requirements with respect to product cost, technology, delivery, customer service, aftermarket support, logistics and quality.
  • Supplier selections and competitive market tests.
  • Utilizing established tools and processes to achieve the best possible cost within the supply chain.
  • Driving Supplier Performance Management - a process for evaluating and managing PACCAR’s strategic supply base. Track and analyze program progress and create relevant reporting and dashboards that communicate program value to key stakeholders.
  • Development of commercial arrangements such as Non-Disclosure Agreements, Service Level Agreements, Letters of Intent, Letters of Agreement, Long Term Agreements, and Performance Guarantees.
  • Commodity Strategy development.
  • Develop and implement plans to achieve purchasing goals.  Provide support for the Director of Purchasing as required.

 

Education and Experience

  • Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or related field. Masters preferred (e.g.: MS, MBA).
  • 5-10 years of purchasing, sales, or related experience.

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Experience with Shared Service Programs; Facilities, Human Resources, Travel & Expense, and Marketing
  • Supervisory experience including demonstrated leadership to accomplish corporate objectives.
  • Proven negotiation and strong analytical skills
  • Project Team participation and / or Project Management.
  • Excellent communication skills – written, verbal, and presentation to all levels.
  • PC skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • Able to travel (domestic and international)
  • International business and best cost country sourcing experience preferred.
