Division Information

Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company, is headquartered in Algona, WA. Dynacraft is a diversified global manufacturer of PACCAR medium and heavy-duty truck parts sold under the Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates. For close to fifty years, Dynacraft has provided the company’s truck manufacturing divisions and PACCAR Parts service parts division with high quality components, subassemblies and specialized services. Dynacraft has three manufacturing facilities in Algona, WA and Louisville, KY, and a third facility in the Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX (soon to be moving to McKinney TX).

Requisition Summary

Dynacraft is looking for a Project Engineer to identify, analyze, and develop equipment and processes in support of reducing costs.  The Project Engineer will work closely with the Project Managers to ensure the best outcome for new business opportunities, vertical integration, and changes to existing business.  The Project Engineer works with Dynacraft and Truck Division engineering and operations teams to ensure equipment and processes are implemented on time and on budget. This position reports to the Director of Business and Product Development. This role requires up to 10% travel annually. This position can be located in Louisville, KY or Plano, TX or Algona, WA

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Identify and define equipment, labor and processes for new business including financial justification, capital and labor requirements, and freight and operational costs.
  • Investigate and analyze new product or supply chain opportunities to drive Dynacraft growth through reducing PACCAR total cost.
  • Build effective relationships and collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including Dynacraft and Truck Division Engineering, PACCAR Purchasing, External Suppliers and Truck Division Operations to ensure project success.
  • Develop and execute capital expenses, EEA development, and implementation plans to meet objectives.
  • Incorporate Six Sigma savings into capital projects when identified.
  • Proactively coordinate change in project scope, identify potential crises, and create/manage contingency plans.    
  • Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously.
  • Communicate project status and issues to senior management and other stakeholders through reports and presentations as requested.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Minimum of three years of related experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience developing and justifying capital projects desired.
  • Advanced proficiency using Pro/E or other solids modeling software preferred.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T principles.
  • Willingness to learn and make use of new engineering processes and techniques.
  • Experience solving complex technical problems.
  • Self-motivated leader, with the ability to handle multiple tasks with varying schedules and shifting priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Past experience in product development and new product implementation preferred.
  • Ability to work both independently with minimal supervision and as a team member.
  • Ability to manage and work through ambiguity.
  • Creative problem solver with strong application of process improvement methodologies.
  • Competency in the use of personal computer software including project management tools, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Education & Training

  • Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Engineering.
  • Six Sigma training desired.
