The Opportunity

We are looking for a hands-on Special Project Trade Specialist to join our Product Development team in Baywater. This full-time role supports the R&D workshop in the development, testing and modification of prototype heavy vehicles. It’s a great opportunity for a skilled trade professional who enjoys working on new and evolving projects, solving problems, and contributing to innovative vehicle development.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with prototype assembly, fabrication and modification
• Support testing and certification activities
• Carry out maintenance on heavy vehicles and workshop equipment
• Contribute to day-to-day workshop operations
• Record work accurately and prepare clear documentation
• Follow safety procedures and support compliance requirements

About You

You are a qualified mechanical trade professional with strong hands-on experience and a practical, solutions-focused mindset. You are comfortable working in a changing environment, can read technical drawings, and bring a high level of care to both your workmanship and documentation.  You will also have:

• Cert IV in Mechanical Trade (essential)
• Experience in a mechanical trade, ideally in R&D or manufacturing
• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics
• Experience with hand, machine and measurement tools
• Knowledge of mechanical and pneumatic systems
• Forklift licence and HR heavy vehicle licence or higher
• Basic understanding of control and electrical systems
