PACCAR Silicon Valley Innovation Center
The PACCAR Innovation Center in Silicon Valley is coordinating next-generation research and identifying emerging technologies that will benefit future vehicle performance. Technology areas of focus include advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), artificial intelligence, additive manufacturing, machine learning, and augmented reality. The Innovation Center is also accelerating partnerships in the development of electric and hydrogen fuel cell powertrains, as well as the deployment of big data analytics.

Requisition Summary

The PACCAR Silicon Valley Innovation Center is looking for an ambitious Validation Engineer to add to our Autmotive Team in Sunnyvale, California.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Formulate comprehensive strategy for evaluation of autonomous systems and components.
  • Develop tests to ensure functional coverage-driven design verification and ISO-26262 compliance.
  • Evaluate supplier simulation capabilities, test validation techniques, and new test management technologies.
  • Conduct vehicle level testing of new advanced autonomous driving functionality.
  • Evaluate vehicle level performance by recording & analyzing data collected during validation testing.
  • Understand system requirements and write tests to confirm that system and safety requirements are fully met or exceeded.
  • Facilitate generation of safety requirements for testing from the functional and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform HIL (Hardware-In-the Loop), MIL (Model-in-the-Loop) & SIL (Software-in-the-Loop) test activities.
  • Collaborate with the larger team of AD engineers to gain exposure to multiple engineering disciplines and working across multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Participate in hardware/software design reviews and help outline the overall component, subsystem, and system verification strategy.
  • Understand and evolve system requirements, hardware component specifications, and validation methods for ADAS and autonomous driving.
  • Analyze requirements and establish traceability using requirements management tools.
  • Keep abreast of emerging industry trends in the field of commercial vehicle embedded software development and technology.
  • Develop test cases and review results with team to track and resolve design issues.
  • Develop and debug test system configuration

  

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Automation or other relevant fields required.
  • 5+ years of experience in complex system engineering.
  • Experience in evaluating and validating future products.
  • Exposure to Embedded and PC architectures, memory and communication components, high speed buses, and DDR memory interfaces.
  • Some exposure to various programming languages, Matlab/Simulink, C/C++, Python, Linux.
  • Experience with ROS and CAN interfaces in embedded or PC systems with ability to troubleshoot very useful.
  • Willing to learn and use new engineering processes and techniques and to be resourceful in solving complex technical problems.
  • Knowledge of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS), Robotics, AI, Deep Learning, Autonomous Sensor Technology, and Big Data Analytics.
  • Solid written and oral communication skills for internal and external presentations.
