Your main emphasis will be researching, defining, and documenting functional safety criteria for our advanced truck technologies and platforms including commercial Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS) such as adaptive cruise control, predictive cruise control, next generation lane centering, and lane change assistance. This includes Functional Safety Concepts (FSC), Safety of the Intended Functionality (SOTIF), Hazard and Operability Analysis (HAZOP), and Design Failure and Effect Analysis (DFMEA). Job Functions / Responsibilities
You're going to need this to be successful:

2+ years of Functional Safety/ISO26262/ASPICE experience in the automotive or trucking industry.

4+ years of experience in Engineering
-
Experience in automotive electronics / systems / software design and development
-
Experienced in Development process projects and exposure to program management tools and processes

Experience with Application Lifecycle Management and System Modeling tools; IBM DNG, IBM Rational Rhapsody, IBM Rational Team Concert preferred.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Adaptability and creativity with an ability to think outside of the box

Interest in, passion for, or curiosity about trucks, automobiles, and technology

Ability to self-direct, even in the face of ambiguity

A collaborative attitude with a willingness to work in a small team environment
Basic Qualifications / Skills
-
Minimum of 5 years of experience with automotive or similar electronic modules and/or systems engineering.

Design/Development of safety critical systems/components (ISO26262).

Experience with requirement management tools such as DOORS, DNG, JAMA etc.

Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

High level of oral and written communication skills and basic project management skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with colleagues local and at remote sites.

Comfortable with ambiguity.

Strong technical leadership skills and able to work in a highly collaborative environment.

Creative, disciplined, strong sense of responsibility, delivery, and schedule commitment.
Competencies
Education

Bachelor of Science degree Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Automation or other relevant fields

Advanced Degree preferred.

The salary range for the Functional Safety Engineer is $89,900 - $140,600 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for the full range of benefit options listed above, including the COLA premium.
