PACCAR Parts is the global provider of aftermarket parts and services to support Kenworth, Peterbilt, DAF and TRP dealers around the world.This includes 18 distribution centers globally that support 2,200 dealerships and over 1,000,000 customers.Aftermarket support includes world class customer centers that deliver industry leading uptime in conjunction with our outstanding supply chain that delivers record levels of inventory availability for dealers and customers.

 

This position reports directly to the PACCAR Parts Director of HR and works in consultation with the PACCAR Parts Operations Leadership Team. The PACCAR Parts Safety Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing safety programs at all North American PACCAR Parts Distribution Center facilities (U.S. & Canada). The ideal candidate is proactive, has experience in a distribution environment and effectively collaborates with leadership to develop a culture of behavioral-based safety.    Travel ranges from 25% to 50% depending on business need. 

 

In this role, you will:

  • Manage a comprehensive and sustainable safety program including prevention, inspection, investigation, and recording of incidents and related costs. Detect hazardous conditions, track and measure results and recommend as well as implement appropriate actions.
  • Provide leadership, training, and analysis to leadership, managers, supervisors, and associates in the identification of potential hazards and accident prevention.
  • Oversee the Division’s worldwide OSHA monthly and annual reporting and the U.S. state workers’ compensation programs, and Canadian (Ontario) WSIB including investigations, reporting, and collection of information for 3rd party claims management.
  • Responsible for coordinating global PDC continuous improvement program
  • Works with the Rockford and Renton Human Resources Specialists in charge of PDC return-to-work programs and third-party Workers’ Compensation management agency.
  • Analyze, develop and implement preventive and corrective measures relating to processes, work station layout, functional ergonomics, and/or personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Proactively streamline safety processes and automate as appropriate.
  • Reviews and oversees the activities and effectiveness of N. A. PDC safety committees.
  • Oversees, administers and facilitates effective safety training program, and certify forklift and rolling stock certification processes at all PDC’s.
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with N.A. applicable federal, state, and local laws.  Coordinate with OSHA inspectors, fire department inspections, and PACCAR insurance carriers.
  • Oversight of first responder training at all PDC’s.  Maintain certification log and coordinate first responder training program.
  • Benchmark safety programs with other PACCAR locations as well as suppliers and PACCAR peer companies.
  • Implementation and oversight of “Stretch it out” program at all PDC’s.
  • Implementation and oversight of “Early Intervention” program at all PDC’s.
  • Responsible for oversight of annual drills (fire, tornado, active shooter) at all PDC’s
  • Evaluation and implementation of new hire safety training program for PACCAR Parts.
  • Maintain employee certification logs / ensure certifications for employees at all PDC’s
  • Facility safety & ergonomic inspections at all PDC’s

 

Ideally, this position will be geographically located to best support our Distribution Centers in Central and Eastern timezones.


Qualifications  & Skills

 

  • Trained in site inspection, safety observations, risk assessment and formal job analysis.
  • Trained and experienced in state and federal compliance, industrial hygiene, hazard analysis and recognition, continuous improvement principles and root cause analysis.
  • Working experience in operations setting with ISO 45001 and/or OHSAS 18001 certification standards preferred.
  • Trained in performing effective ergonomic assessments in a distribution environment is a plus.
  • DOT compliance knowledge is helpful.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health or Industrial Safety.
  • Masters’ Degree in applicable field is preferred.
  • Professional certification in safety, industrial hygiene or ergonomics preferred.  CSP or ASP certification is preferred.
  • 5 years of closely related industrial safety and health experience.
