Division Information

PACCAR’s Information Technology Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire Corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector.

Requisition Summary

PACCAR Information Technology Division is looking for an Agile Scrum Master to lead a software development team in the delivery of new solutions through coaching and mentoring. This position will facilitate Scrum ceremonies, ensure adherence to Scrum best practice, remove impediments, and encourage commitment to quality and delivery. This position will assume responsibility for the overall health of the team. They will act as a shield, protecting the team from external distractions. They will encourage team responsibility, self-accountability, and continuous improvement. This position will also be responsible for sprint reporting and communication of project progress.  

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Facilitate Scrum ceremonies, grooming, stand-ups, team communications, and decision making with a cross-functional team
  • Work with the product owner to ensure a robust, prioritized backlog is available 
  • Mentor/coach Scrum teams on user story sizing and acceptance criteria definition, facilitate the definition of a minimal viable product, and lead continuous refinement and prioritization of the product backlog
  • Build team competence in breaking down user stories, estimating work, committing work for delivery and operating as a single, cohesive development team
  • Partners with project manager and product owner to drive development and ongoing updates to release plan 
  • Remove impediments that would prevent the team from achieving its sprint and release goals
  • Help team or individual to clarify goals and actions to achieve them.
  • Encourages team responsibility, self-accountability, transparency and self-organization
  • Ability to shield team from outside distractions and interferences.
  • Ensures adherence to agile practice through incremental planning, retrospectives, etc. for Scrum teams
  • Ensures successful delivery of large impact and/or cross-functional product initiatives
  • Coaches, mentors and provides guidance to assigned team members and across the IT organization
  • Maintaining the accuracy of Scrum tools like: TFS, Burndown Chart, Reports, etc.
  • Ability to work periodic evenings and weekends for production support and implementations as needed
Qualifications
  • 3-5 years of experience as a Scrum Master
  • Working Experience with multiple Agile methodologies in addition to Scrum (KANBAN, Extreme Programming, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience leading people
  • Understand software development processes and procedures, including test driven development, incremental development approaches and technical change management
  • Detail oriented with an ability to support multiple initiatives
  • Maintain high level of quality while working under pressure and deadlines
  • Demonstrate ability to communicate both verbally and in writing across all levels of the organization
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business or Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Certified Scrum Master or equivalent certification
