Requisition Summary

This position manages plant safety and health staff and programs to include: accident prevention, worker’s compensation administration, safety training, ergonomics, emergency response plans, and compliance with company/governmental policies and regulations. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities


•    Manages a comprehensive safety and health program, including accident prevention, investigation, and recording of accidents and related costs. 
•    Provides consultation, training, and analytical analysis to plant leadership, managers, and employees in the identification of potential hazards and accident prevention. 
•    Directs the administration of disability programs, worker’s compensation program, investigations, and the collection of information for claims management. 
•    Manages safety inspections to detect hazardous conditions and assumes appropriate follow-up on unsafe conditions. Consult with supervisors and recommend preventive or corrective measures relating to process, machinery layout and or personal protective equipment. 
•    Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state and local laws. Coordinate with all OSHA inspectors, fire department inspections and PACCAR insurance carriers. 
•    Performs analysis to develop and identify continuous improvement in the safety and health department that will assist in achieving effective loss control goals and procedures. 
•    Oversees plant ergonomics, safety committee, and industrial hygiene monitoring 
•    Coordinates the administration and facilitation of required safety training for plant employees through internal or external training programs.  
•    Works closes with Facilities Manager on the plant emergency program and ensures proper training and certification is maintained
•    Ability to assist in basic first aid treatment and other duties as needed to support the plant
•    Engages employees in goals, continuous improvements, projects, etc.
•    Serves as a coach and mentor in the personal and professional development of team members
•    Responsible for departmental budgeting and meeting financial obligations. Recommends and assists in capital expenditure process for improvements as needed.
 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Safety Management, Occupational Health, Technology or related field required. Master's Degree in applicable field, as well as professional certification in safety, industrial hygiene or hazardous materials a plus.
  • 5 - 7+ years closely related industrial safety and health experience. Familiar with OSHA, WISHA, NFPA, ACGIH regulations. Administrative and organizational ability. 
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral), strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate in large group settings (500+ employees)
  • Ability to supervise, make decisions, and use independent judgment and or action when required
  • Working knowledge of all Microsoft programs

Salary Information

At PACCAR, we value talent and promote growth and development. We carefully consider numerous compensation factors, including your education, training, or experience. The salary range for SAFETY MANAGER is $80,800 - $126,600 annually. Additionally, this role is eligible for a full range of benefit options listed above.
