Requisition Summary

The Quality Assurance Unit Manager will be responsible for supervising quality assurance operations and personnel to provide maximum product quality and customer satisfaction.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develops and supervises sampling and inspection practices/techniques for product manufacturing, procurement and receiving to achieve desired quality standards.
  • Coordinates quality assurance activities with production and other functions to support delivery schedules.
  • Ensures proper staffing, training, development, motivation, performance appraisal counseling and safety of assigned staff and recommends or initiates personnel actions including promotions, transfers, disciplinary measure, etc., in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Initiates and recommends appropriate personnel actions concerning Labor Agreement administration, and new employee selection.
  • Directs material review of rejected items, analyzes design or process failure causes, and recommends solutions for improved quality of future designs.
  • Assists with development of and conducts quality assurance training programs, prepares and maintains necessary records and reports.
  • May visit customer and/or suppliers to confer on specific quality problems; monitor subcontractor operations; establish inspection practices for vendors to meet company standards.
  • Communicates quality issues to all levels of the organization.
  • Recommends and implements capital budget projects.
  • Perform special projects as assigned.
  • Involvement in PPQA/PQI review process (PACCAR Quality Index scoring)


  • Four years of experience in manufacturing or related field preferred.
  • College degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Proven team leadership skills. High energy level, goal oriented individual.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills.
  • Strong communication, customer service, documentation, organization and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of metrology, computer controlled measurement devices and geometric tolerancing techniques is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies, training and experience in use of Six Sigma tools a plus.
  • Successful record of developing effective work teams, demonstrated technical ability and problem solving skills applied to quality, safety, and process improvements.
  • Strong PC and project management skills.  Ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities.
  • Proficient in using MS Excel and PowerPoint.
