Requisition Summary

Provides support to the Quality Manager, Quality Assurance Unit Managers, and department by analyzing processes, trends, and quality metrics to resolve opportunities, update processes, and procedure improvements. Facilitates the development of quality training materials, and participates in quality improvement and cost savings initiatives. Responsible for assisting, maintaining, and analyzing EWI inputs and outputs to ensuring compliance of ISO, China, and Russia programs.


  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or business related field preferred, relative work experience and expertise will be considered.
  • Proficient with MS Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience reading, manipulating, formatting and up-loading quality data.
  • Minimum of 15 years in heavy truck manufacturing.
  • Minimum of 15 years of training small and large groups on heavy truck quality requirements.
  • Minimum of 5 years in performing and reporting of PQI’s (Product Quality Inspection).
  • Preferred 5 years of experience in PPQA expectations and standards.
  • Preferred 5 years of experience as a Senior PQI Inspector.
  • Demonstrated understanding of SWI (Standard Work Instructions), EWI (Electronic Work Instructions) and quality systems.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9000 standards helpful.
  • Strong communication, customer service, documentation, organization and analytical skills.
  • Must be a team player and able to multi-task.
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies, training and experience in use of Six Sigma tools a plus.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Investigate, propose, and implement improvements to line inspection, supplier quality, and related production and material planning processes to increase the effectiveness of the quality system to achieve continuous improvement in quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Design and develop technical training programs using Learning Guides (training manuals), (JSS) Job Specification Sheet, (SWI) Standard Work Instructions, and (EWI) Electronic Work Instructions.  
  • Responsible for tracking training by employee and maintain records that are available to operations.
  • Work with QA & area employees to resolve and eliminate all open write-ups within designated gates.
  • Facilitate gate reviews and update meetings.
  • Actively participate and support quality improvement, cost reduction, warranty reduction, LEAN, Six Sigma, internal auditing, and other plant initiatives.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of training and provide summary reports to management, determine impact of training on employee skills and corporate goals.
  • Support recruitment and talent management efforts including:  New Employee Orientation Program.
  • Responsible for conducting individual and team skills gap analysis.
  • Plan for and support implementation of new products necessitated by design changes into the plant’s quality system.
  • Provide daily problem resolution support for quality functions.
  • Report, review, and participate in root cause analysis/corrective action of PQI’s and Red Alert’s.
  • Support retention of ISO-9001 certification.
  • Assume Quality Assurance Unit Assistant Manager Role as business needs dictate.
  • Participate in location benchmarking activities as needed.
  • Performs other duties as required.
