PACCAR’s Information Technology Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA utilizes technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire Corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector.

Requisition Summary

The Platforms Services Manager is a highly motivated, results-oriented leader responsible for strategic data center server, devops, and hybrid cloud roadmaps, investment planning, and maintaining all aspects of PACCAR’s global server platforms including software, hardware, and provider services. The position coordinates and manages server, devops, messaging and collaboration solutions engineers who implement, operate, and maintain PACCAR’s distributed systems on a PACCAR’s data center and hybrid clouds. This position develops global platform investment proposals to support PACCAR’s business improving operational and financial results. The Platform Services Manager develops the global hybrid cloud architecture and engineers' solutions for innovative next-generation distributed systems, server and serverless designs and builds. This position is responsible for delivering high quality customer service and support.  

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Leads the global team in the design, implementation, and support of server platforms projects

  • Responsible for managing platform services personnel and related administrative activities

  • Mentors and develops platform services professionals at all technician and engineering levels

  • Provides expert level knowledge of distributed systems for server and serverless architecture and cloud operations

  • Implements and manages all appropriate compliance controls

  • Leads the team in the assessment of high impact mission critical infrastructure for the purpose of appropriate sizing, performance targets and costs.

  • Implements high available architecture for critical enterprise applications

  • Manage service interruptions affecting critical business systems, performs root cause analysis, collaborates with multiples teams spanning divisions and third-party providers, and implements recommendations to mitigate issues from reoccurring

  • Actively involved in problem-solving processes and 7x24 availability

  • Performs productivity assessments, and proactively evaluates, analyzes, and recommends IT solutions to our customers to improve performance

  • Provides transformation leadership in support of organizational and technical strategies and practices

  • Implements continuous process improvements and automation

  • Builds strong relationships with internal and external partners to ensure the highest level of success across all organizational objectives

  • Demonstrates values of teamwork, continuous improvement, commitment, openness and learning

  • Assists in developing meaningful and appropriate disaster recovery plans for essential IT systems and processes

  • Provide after-hours support as needed

  • Traveling domestically and internationally up to 25% of the time

Qualifications

  • Five or more years of manager experience in multiple server platform infrastructure such as Microsoft Windows, Unix, IBM System i, VMWare and Linux

  • Three or more years of experience with supporting a hybrid cloud environment with on-prem data centers and public clouds such as Microsoft Azure and AWS.

  • Demonstrated experience in advanced analysis\resolution at the distributed systems, public cloud environments and application layer.

  • Demonstrated experience in architecting distributed systems

  • Experience in IT projects and consultation

  • Experience implementing IT infrastructure automation

  • Cross-culture experience managing global teams

  • Willingness to effectively drive change across the enterprise, build strong relationships with internal partners to ensure the highest level of success, and lead a team through platform services transformation.

  • Strong leadership qualities and demonstrated ability to guide and motivate a team toward a common goal.

  • Five or more years of technical knowledge, specifically basic power knowledge, Microsoft, Unix, AS400 and Linux server technologies, security and compliance frameworks such as Sarbanes-Oxley, NIST, Unified Communications.

  • Strategic and critical thinking skills to solve both strategic and tactical challenges on a daily basis with advanced skills to perform complex work.

  • Ability to analyze data and present results to identify root causes and improvement opportunities to support business strategies.

  • Strong organization skills that focus on attention to details, and an ability to maintain a high level of accuracy that delivers results.

  • Ability to interact with various levels of management, various departments and with internal and external customers.

  • Self-starter mindset with a strong sense of ownership and involvement, and the ability to work independently.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent is required

  • Master's degree preferred
