Requisition Summary

Acts as a liaison between Kenworth Materials, Production, and the local Manufacturing Support Services (MSS) to ensure the MSS suppliers performance meets the needs of the Kenworth Renton Plant.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop and Drive improvements with MSS operations supporting Renton through lean and six sigma tool usage
  • Project Management of all MSS Location operational and Systems improvement projects. 
  • Provide onsite support at MSS to control offsite inventories, coordinate lean practices and drive continuous improvement activities. 
  • Daily support visits to Renton MSS operations as needed to ensure continuous improvement and delivery performance expectations are met. 
  • Drive Improved SLA’s with performance incentives with MSS Supplier operations.
  • Responsible for conducting material flow analysis and space utilization studies to justify proposals and to reduce material handling truck hours and improve plant inventory turns.  Execute projects to implement approved initiatives. 
  • Coordinate optimized sourcing initiatives.  Work with production and materials to identify and prioritize projects.  Enlist support and recommendations from quality, supplier quality, and purchasing as necessary.  Maintain historical and active records for all projects. 
  • Develop cost justifications for optimized sourcing initiatives.  Coordinate with plant accounting group to ensure concurrence with internal cost assessment.  Work with and assist production, materials, manufacturing engineering and other groups as necessary to obtain required data for justification. 
  • Develop and submit Requests for Quotes (RFQ's) to suppliers for candidate optimized sourcing projects.  Coordinate candidate selection with purchasing and supplier quality. 
  • Develop MSS KPI’s, Metrics and inputs to improve service level contracts with MSS operations, benchmarking best in class SLA’s with performance incentives.
  • Attend and drive MSS quarterly performance reviews
  • Support of Systems Improvement Projects, such as Materials Domain IT Prioritization projects, and larger projects such as NAMS, specifically around necessary improvements of MSS operations systems, metrics and performance data.
  • Help support other Supplier Triage visits when necessary, during times of supply base destabilizations.

Qualifications

  • Self-motivated and organized with the ability to prioritize multiple demands in a consistently changing environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and communication skills including written, verbal, listening, and presentation are required.  Firm but fair attitude with MSS and supplier operations is critical.
  • SAP Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) knowledge and experience desired.
  • Successful purchasing, LTA, SLA, and contract negotiation experience required.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft office including Excel.
  • Travel, up to 20%, Local travel up to 75%.

Education

  • Four-year degree in business administration, mathematics, supply chain management, or related field required.
  • MBA preferred.
  • 4-10 years supply chain management experience.
