Requisition Summary

Kenworth Truck Company is seeking an experienced, results-oriented Maintenance Manager for its truck assembly plant in Renton, WA.  With primary responsibility to oversee maintenance operations and improving plant safety programs while maintaining operational reliability. This position will lead a team consisting of mechanics, electricians, machinist, and tooling specialist, and supervisors across two shifts and be responsible for an annual operating budget to ensure the highest-quality and most efficient production of Kenworth heavy-duty and off-highway trucks.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Includes assigning work; developing and training subordinates; initiating personnel actions such as promotions, transfers and vacation scheduling 
  • Develop PM procedures and programs to maximize operation reliability and minimize repair cost
  • Initiate and recommend appropriate personnel actions regarding new employee selection, promotions, training, and employee counseling
  • Responsible for promoting and furthering company objectives in safety, quality, cost reduction and personnel development and continuous Improvement
  • Successful record of developing effective teams and demonstrated understanding of journeyman level mechanics and electrician training, quality, and safety programs
  • Define, design, develop, monitor and refine a life cycle for the plant-of- the-future operational and maintenance excellence
  • Proven ability to drive for results on key maintenance performance metrics including equipment downtime, PM execution, productivity, and inventory accuracy

Qualifications

  • Four year degree in Business, Manufacturing, Engineering, Operations, or a related field prefered
  • Ability to manage multiple projects / tasks
  • Experience in PLC methodology and high level building control systems or design
  • Engineering background and experience related to large production automation and operations including integrated robotics and interdependent automated systems
  • Ability to support all plant equipment in the facility 
  • At least four years demonstrated leadership in front line supervisory, lead, or equivalent experience, preferably in a production environment
  • Ability to initiate and lead change through continual process improvements
  • Ability to operate and actively participate in a team-oriented environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills successful record of developing effective work teams, demonstrated technical ability and problem solving skills applied to quality, safety, and process improvements
  • Working knowledge of continuous improvement tools and methodologies.  Certified in Six Sigma is a plus
