Division Information

PACCAR's Information Division (ITD), located in Renton, WA utilizes cutting-edge technology to provide systems development, consulting, voice and data communications services to the entire Corporation, which has high visibility in the technology sector.

Requisition Summary

PACCAR’s Information Governance team is looking for an intern with a passion for information science and data discovery. This internship is an embedded role with a high performing team of information professionals focused on building a global catalog of PACCAR’s data. This is an active, hands-on role where you will be developing and refining data classification rules, semantic models, and populating PACCAR’s data catalog using enterprise grade software and digital asset management methodologies. This role will also develop reports to help the team measure its success and areas of opportunity.

 

This internship will work closely with a team of experienced information professionals and will be directly contributing to the success of a high-visibility program. The internship can be full or part time, and the working hours can be flexible depending on class schedules.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Develop search rules to classify and label data based on legal and business requirements
  • Identify and define semantic relationships between data objects
  • Support business data managers in developing and maintaining business glossaries and taxonomies
  • Actively participate in and contribute to continuous improvement activities within the Information Governance team

Skills / Competencies

  • Strong fundamental knowledge of controlled vocabulary models
  • Basic familiarity with regular expressions (REGEX)
  • Familiarity with content and information management
  • Familiarity with a programming language (Python, R, C#, etc.) and/or basic SQL desired but not required
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Curious, inquisitive mind with an ability to adapt to a dynamic environment

Education

  • Pursuing a graduate degree in Library Sciences, Informatics, Business Administration or related field
