Position Summary


The Vehicle Software System Development Manager is responsible for leading a team focusing on software solutions for PACCAR products.  In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team executing a portfolio of high impact projects. The team’s development focuses on applications that enable telematics, over-the-air software updates and service tools solutions that are used update software on PACCAR vehicles.

This position is located in Renton, WA and has a hybrid work model.


Job Functions / Responsibilities


  • Lead a software development team to deliver quality software faster while adjusting to change
  • Oversee the project portfolio and budget within the Vehicle Software System domain
  • Manage the relationship between global business partners and project teams
  • Ensure collaboration with our business partners to prioritize program priority
  • Elicit feature level project objectives for projects to estimate time/budget to deliver
  • Maintain awareness of dependencies between projects to provide guidance to the team
  • Motivate the team to achieve near-term deliverables and prepare for long-term deliverables
  • Work with the Business Analysts to manage risks and issues and propose escalations as needed
  • Plan resources to achieve growing business demand




  • 3+ years of experience in a supervisory role in a technical environment
  • Demonstrated leadership and team mindset skills
  • Strong technical aptitude to understand business requirements in the context of software delivery
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Adaptability toward changing priorities and an ability to lead the team with a growth mindset


Preferred Qualifications


  • Product/project management skills
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies
  • Familiarity with automotive or manufacturing environment
  • Strong understanding of OOO, SOA concepts and SOLID Design Principles
  • Proven expertise around secure web development (Web Applications, Web API, Web Services)
  • 2+ years of programming experience:
    • .NET Core, ASP.NET Core, C#, JavaScript, JSON, XML, ReSTful web services, WCF, SQL/TSQL – SQL Server




Bachelor's Degree in Business, Computer Science/Electrical Engineering or related field required


Physical Demands


Prolonged sitting and manual dexterity are required. This position is in an office/desk work setting.


The Role


“This position is responsible for the monitoring, proactive management and recovery of PACCAR computing systems, network, and applications to ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements.  The Enterprise Command Center (ECC) also monitors the data center critical facilities infrastructure, provides video surveillance and manages security/access to the building and computer room.  A IT Operations Analyst plays a critical role on a global team that is responsible for ensuring the health and availability of PACCAR’s business critical applications.  This is a non-exempt position that may be asked to provide additional coverage on a different shift to include weekends, holidays and overtime as necessary”
