PACCAR Parts is the global provider of aftermarket parts and services to support Kenworth, Peterbilt, DAF and TRP dealers around the world.  This includes 18 distribution centers globally that support 2,200 dealerships and over 1,000,000 customers.  Aftermarket support includes world-class customer centers that deliver industry leading uptime in conjunction with our outstanding supply chain that delivers record levels of inventory availability for dealers and customers. 

Requisition Summary

Under the general supervision of the PACCAR Parts PDC Manager, direct all receiving/shipping distribution activities and lead all warehouse supervisors to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, productivity and customer service. The position of Assistant Distribution Center Manager is one of the most dynamic opportunities at PACCAR Parts. You will have the ability to impact the culture and success of an entire operation; including developing future PACCAR leaders, working with dealers on creative solutions to grow sales / increase loyalty, and developing new distribution processes.

We are preparing to open the 19th distribution center in the network, with the largest storage square footage in North America!  In this role you will have the unique opportunity to launch the business from the ground up and be fully engaged in construction project management, facility layout, employee onboarding/training, introducing new technologies and improving dealership service levels!

This position is located in Louisville, KY.   

Job Functions / Responsibilities


Prior to PDC Opening:

  • Manage all aspects of production readiness related to the startup of a new distribution center for the PACCAR Parts network. Serve as the Operations representative to ensure all business requirements are met for key production milestones
    • Work with Logistics to develop inbound/outbound carrier partnerships and coordinate service level agreements. Work with Sales and prime dealerships on business readiness requirements and timing of onboarding service out of Louisville.  Negotiate order and trailer cut times to ensure world-class retail availability for dealers.
    • Manage implementation of all physical signage for the facility (including aisles, locations, high-speed, velocity labels). Determine required resources needed for execution and coordinate timeline with racking and conveyance installation.
    • Coordinate delivery and installation timelines of distribution process equipment, rolling stock equipment and warehouse workstations.  
    • Develop employee onboarding plan for new Supervisors and Associates through multiple hiring phases.  Work with other PDC management teams to arrange for training requirements at host PDCs.
    • Coordinate on-site support rotation programs (+ related travel) with current network Supervisors, Associates and Division office employees that aligns with facility setup needs and employee onboarding needs.
    • Work with Materials to ensure PDC processes are in place for fulfillment of centralized bulk product, and conversions of demand/prime PDCs for dealers.
  • Assist in recruiting efforts to establish a collaborative and effective team of future leaders.
  • Assist in coordinating timelines with the General Contractor and independent PACCAR Contractors.
  • Take on ad-hoc project management duties as assigned by PDC Manager.

After PDC Opening:

  • Direct a multi-shift production operation in the 260,000 ft2 facility assuring the expedient flow of product in/out of the PDC.  Manage to world-class cost, productivity, quality, inventory control, customer service, human resource, and safety metrics.
  • Manage a collaborative team of 65+ employees servicing Kenworth, Peterbilt and TRP Prime Dealerships
  • Direct management of frontline Warehouse Supervisors, including recruiting and selecting employees, providing training and development, and evaluating performance. Building a motivated, effective team to ensure career development, performance management and employee engagement objectives are met.
  • Lead by example with highest degree of integrity, promote teamwork, and effectively communicate at all levels within the organization.  Strong focus on metrics and culture of accountability.  Recruit, train, and develop all levels of staffing.
  • Support Continuous Improvement Manager to foster a climate of continuous improvement. Understanding and desire to use data and statistical tools to drive operational improvements using six sigma methodologies.
  • Develop a positive relationship with the customers/dealers and maintain market knowledge of PDC region dealers, supply base, and competitors. Identify opportunities that drive lead time reductions and improved service to dealers and customers.
  • Perform within approved Operating and Capital budgets. Prepare, direct, and coordinate reports and information for senior management.
  • Participate in special assignments/projects; available for travel and/or relocation.


  • Bachelor's degree in a business, logistics, engineering field or related area required. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of leadership and supervision with PACCAR or other business experience.  
  • Proven record of accomplishment in developing future leaders required.
  • Demonstrated abilities in leadership, problem solving, and change management
  • Distribution, logistics, manufacturing, quality, or inventory control experience.
  • Highly self-motivated and able to work effectively in a team environment with little to no supervision.  
  • Ability to influence others through clear communication of expectations. Ability to present and communicate to all levels of management.
  • Ability to manage technical projects and interpret large data sets within the distribution environment.    Experience with PACCAR Production System (PPS) or TPS methodology a plus. Experience with Total Quality Management System (TQM) a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills required: MSAccess, MSWord, MSExcel, MSPowerPoint, AutoCAD
  • Multi-lingual skills highly desirable.
  • Six Sigma Trained: Green Belt or Black Belt preferred
  • Willing to work 2nd shift operating hours if needed.
  • Willing to relocate in future required (continental U.S.)
