Become part of a small team developing advanced powertrain solutions for future products. Building off the success of the ZECT hydrogen fuel cell powered truck, Kenworth in partnership with Toyota and Shell, is developing fuel cell powered vehicles to explore the use of this technology in heavyduty applications. A team of knowledgeable and motivated individuals is being formed to develop,

support and evaluate these vehicles as they are put into service in 2020. The design and

architectural foundations laid and the knowledge gained through this program will shape the future

of electrified powertrains.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities:

• Participate in the design development of power management, final drive, cooling, HVAC, air and control systems for electric powertrain heavy-duty trucks.

• Responsible for evaluation and interpretation of vehicle and system validation activities

• Work in a collaborative small-team environment to explore and evaluate advanced vehicle

technologies.

• Define, design and develop assemblies and components to physically integrate advanced technology systems into next technologies projects.

• Gain and apply broad product knowledge to implement new technologies to meet changing

requirements in the heavy-duty truck market.

• Work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment with internal and external organizations to explore and test future technologies.

• Leverage internal product development processes and Six Sigma skills to ensure high quality

results, manage progress and report updates.

• Ideal candidate will have experience in the Chassis, Powertrain, and Applications engineering groups.

 

Qualifications & Skills:

• 4-year degree required; Master’s degree in business or engineering and P.E. certificate are

preferred

• 3+ years of experience in the specification and design of heavy duty trucks including knowledge and experience related to vehicle applications, chassis layout, cooling systems, mechanical systems; proficient in the use of Creo, Windchill and other industry standard tools

• Experience designing vehicle layouts (for example: using the engineering EASOP toolkit to evaluate that it meets PACCAR and customer application requirements),

• Competence in the use of personal computer software such as word processing, database, and

spreadsheets

• Familiarity with project management methods and tools

• Candidate should be willing to make use of engineering processes and techniques and be

resourceful in solving complex technical problems

• Requires independent judgment and effective project management.

• Ability to manage costs, time and resources; strong communication skills.
