The Role

This position is responsible for the administration, maintenance and recovery of PACCAR servers, and applications to ensure adherence to Service Level Agreements. The Open Systems Team also manages other data center critical infrastructure, hypervisor platform, messaging, and Azure. An IT Systems Administrator designs solutions, administers, maintains, and optimizes servers and plays a critical role on a global team that is responsible for ensuring the health and availability of PACCAR’s business critical applications.

 

About the Team

As a Systems Administrator Intern, you will work with the Open Systems Administration Team. The Open Systems Administration Team focuses on solving providing technology solutions to PACCAR. As part of a diversified global Fortune 500 company, the Open Systems Administration Team works on a huge variety of projects: from infrastructure as code, cloud migration, and disaster recovery planning. Job Responsibilities & Projects

• Server hardware refresh project

• Keeping systems operating efficiently by performing any necessary upgrades and repairs

• Analyzing and figuring out the system needs of departments

• Optimizing and evaluating the system regularly

• Training or directing users on the correct use of software and hardware

• Identifying and automating maintenance routines

 

Required Experience & Skills

• 2+ years hands-on IT technical experience

• Ability to work under pressure and multitask within a fast-paced environment

• Communicate clearly with team members, technical support groups, and management

• Able to perform advanced troubleshooting techniques and recovery procedures on Windows Server 2008/2012/2016/2019/2022 using a variety of server administration tools

• Functional knowledge IT Infrastructure components – storage, network, structured cabling

 

Education

• Undergraduate degree in IT, Computer Science or related field desired in progress

 

Physical Demands

• Sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time

• Lifting up to 55 pounds

• Team lifting large objects such as servers using lifting equipment

The salaries for intern positions are as follows:

  • Undergraduate Enrollment - $25 / hour
  • Graduate Enrollment - $30 / hour
