Requisition Summary

The PACCAR Technical Center is looking for a mechanical engineering intern interested in designing and developing new test methods for the medium and heavy duty trucks. The intern will work with division engineering to define and develop customized test plans that will validate and prepare a vehicle for a lifetime of abuse. A state of the art Technical Center is available to develop new test methods and procedures that will influence vehicle design, suspension design, resolve issues seen in the field or even verify the latest prototype under development. Core roles typically include project management, coordination of resources in the testing lab, analysis of results and writing reports. Key requirements include a strong interest in mechanical systems, excellent communication and organization skills, and a minimum of two years of college level education towards a degree in Engineering.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

The Engineering Intern will learn to conduct tests related to mechanical systems in heavy and medium duty PACCAR vehicles. The specific activities include:

  • Maintaining an open and clear communication among engineering and support groups
  • Coordination of activities as specified in test procedure documentation
  • Writing work instructions for laboratory personnel
  • Documenting test results
  • Writing formal reports


  • Excellent communication skills required
  • Technical writing experience preferred
  • Excellent organizational skills required
  • Excellent Microsoft Office software skills required
  • Project management experience preferred
  • Strong interest in mechanical systems is preferred


Minimum of two years of College level education towards an Engineering degree
