Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

Some potential projects that this intern will work on are:

  • Correlation of physical test results to analytical approaches.
  • Develop and assess measurement systems used to quantify vehicle performance.
  • Evaluate various vehicle efficiency strategies using industry standard test procedures.
  • Perform vehicle-level aerodynamic and fuel economy testing, analyze data and make recommendations to improve processes and/or products.

Qualifications

  • The position requires coordinating and conducting testing with supervision by a senior engineering staff member. This may eventually include project definition and planning, test set up, data collection, analytical modeling, and report writing.
  • It requires the ability to analyze physical systems and formulate test methods and simulation models to characterize the systems.
  • Excellent technical, communication, and team skills are imperative.
  • An ability to manage personal workload and willingness, flexibility, and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands are also required.
  • Familiarity with analytical tools such as MatLab/SimuLink is desired.
  • Moderate domestic travel may be required of this position.

Education

This position requires at minimum a Junior (3rd-year) standing working toward a BSME or equivalent degree, with relevant work experience desired.
