We are looking for a driven Calibration Engineer to join our Vehicle Calibration team. Specific focus will be the calibration and in-vehicle verification of heavy-duty vehicle functions.  The selected individual will work in a global, cross-divisional, and innovative team to develop and calibrate “Best in Class” vehicle functions for North America.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  •  Uses engineering principles and experience to calibrate and optimize vehicle performance functionality via in-vehicle testing of engine management functions
  •  Actively participates in the calibration, verification, release, and implementation of software for NA vehicles
  •  Provides technical feedback on proposed product changes
  •  Provides support to the running business group in the calibration, verification, and release of running change software releases
  •  Provides relevant input to the development, communication, and management of vehicle calibration plans, including timing, quality, and budget
  •  Translates customer performance requirements into software calibration data for the engine management system
  •  Performs diagnostic activities on engine management system and report findings and recommendations to improve reliability and durability of the system
  •  Provides technical support to the Control, Software, and Validation Teams with testing, root cause analysis, and defect resolution
  •  Stays current on software functionality and product requirements for their assigned functions
  •  Identifies opportunities or provides input for new initiatives to improve calibration and testing methods for higher efficiency and effectiveness
  •  Maintains positive working relationships with other groups and PACCAR divisions

Qualifications

  •  1-3 years of relevant work experience preferred 
  •  Experience with diesel engines and Class 5-8 vehicles preferred
  •  Knowledge of engine and powertrain management systems and performance
  •  Knowledge of in-vehicle engine calibration, data acquisition systems, OBD, and engine control systems
  •  Ability to work well independently and as part of a team
  •  Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively
  •  Self-directed, excellent analysis and engineering judgment required
  •  Organized and disciplined with ability to manage personal workload and a willingness and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands. 
  •  Ability to travel up to 10%

Education

 BS in appropriate technical field required, MS degree in technical field preferred
