Requisition Summary

PACCAR, global manufacturer of heavy-duty transportation equipment, including Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF trucks, seeks a Technical Project Engineer at their Technical Center in Mount Vernon, Washington.  The successful candidate will organize and monitor on-site and off-site testing of new or modified components focusing on engines, aftertreatment, and advanced technologies developed for future powertrains.  The position compiles results, assists in failure analysis, supports defect resolution, and generates test status reports.  Additionally, the position will be responsible for the interface of all department information related to test activities.  This position potentially will support issues during off-shift hours, as well as working with off-site testing locations requiring up to 20% travel

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 


Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, conducts, and generates reporting on test vehicle hardware, software management, vehicle configuration and test article utilization.
  • Analyzes development and verification test case requests, discusses test requirements with requestors, formulates test plans and schedules, and generates test case results.
  • Responsible for the architecture and administration of the departments Microsoft’s SharePoint site.
  • Participates and coordinates test activities, verifies that test equipment and instrumentation equipment meet specified requirements, performs preliminary data checks, designs fixtures, and specifies instrumentation, equipment, vehicles, loading configurations, and data processing techniques.
  • Support logistical operations for on and off-site test activities involving parts ordering, tracking, and coordinating of upfits for test articles both internal and external to the PACCAR Technical Center.
  • Fosters good communications, establishes, and maintains cooperative and productive work relations with all other departments and managers


  • 1-3 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organizational skills and experience with MS Office products required
  • Microsoft SharePoint Experience Preferred
  • Knowledge of common powertrain parts and systems preferred
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Excellent technical and communications skills
  • Ability to manage personal workload and willingness, flexibility and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands
  • Working knowledge of PACCAR products is desired


BS degree in appropriate engineering discipline
