Autonomous Vehicle Controls Systems Supervisor
PACCAR’s Embedded Engineering department, which serves both Kenworth and Peterbilt Semi-Trucks, has an opening for a Autonomous Vehicle Controls Systems Supervisor This position will lead a team of embedded engineers focused on Controls Systems Prototyping of PACCAR’s Autonomous Vehicle Platform. The successful candidate must coordinate Embedded Engineering product development to program schedules. The ideal candidate will be able to lead engineers to deliver critical program goals and continue to enhance PACCAR’s global functional and system development processes. This role will be based at the PACCAR Technical Center in Mount Vernon, WA.
Job Functions / Responsibilities
- Lead a team of engineers to develop control system strategies that support integration of autonomous features on PACCAR vehicles
- Manage team deliverables for the program in all stages of product development (Definition, Concept, Engineering, and Verification/Validation), and adapt job responsibilities within the team to ensure successful completion.
- Supervise design and release of embedded architecture, systems, or software components to heavy commercial trucks.
- Obtain agreement from cross-divisional and partner counterparts on global design direction.
- Lead change management boards and other governance processes to maximize re-use of embedded systems or software components globally within PACCAR.
- Support deployment of ISO26262 and ASPiCE disciplines throughout PACCAR, and develop department processes to support wider corporate initiatives.
- Work with counterparts throughout PACCAR to provide a global approach to Embedded Engineering, and maintain corporate specifications where appropriate.
- Develop and maintain department and program resource plans and budgets related to assigned development team.
- Provide written and verbal updates to PACCAR senior management on product development progress, program objectives, department strategic goals, or globally aligned roadmaps
- Recruit, mentor, and develop engineers across a variety of Embedded Engineering disciplines.
- Up to 10% travel (domestic and international)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, or Computer Science required.
- 3+ years of design or validation of embedded systems or software required with relevant experience in the automotive or trucking industry.
- Prior supervisory experience preferred.
- Prior experience with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) control systems for autonomous trucks or passenger vehicles preferred.
- Prior experience with Agile Development practices preferred.
- Experience with automotive or commercial vehicle networks, such as CAN, SAE J1939 and LIN preferred.
- Knowledge of ISO26262 and ASPiCE is preferred.
- Experience with Application Lifecycle Management and System Modeling tools such as IBM DOORS, IBMRational Rhapsody, IBM Rational Team Concert, Matlab, Simulink, Stateflow, and HP Quality Center preferred
- Significant experience with advanced features in Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint preferred.
- Good Understanding of Six Sigma disciplines and tools preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required.
