Requisition Summary

The candidate for this position will perform shake testing, other component level lab projects, outside vendor consultation including data collection and testing. Performs testing or development work on shake projects of significant scope. May be assigned responsibility for major tasks on larger projects with appropriate supervision. Acts as a lead/mentor/trainer to junior personnel. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment and to determine if desired overall results and objectives have been achieved.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and conducts shake projects of significant scope with minimal supervision.
  • Analyzes project requests, discusses project requirements with requestors and formulates preliminary project plans, budgets and schedules.
  • Designs/review fixtures and specifies instrumentation, equipment, vehicles, loading configurations, and data processing techniques.
  • Participates in set up of tests, verifies that test equipment and instrumentation equipment meet specified requirements.
  • Participates in data collection, analysis, and RPC drive file development activities.
  • Writes reports, as appropriate, incorporating results, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • May contribute to or participate in presentations of test or investigative projects to divisions or management personnel.
  • Undertake activities to develop existing and improved test methodologies.
  • Participate in test program definition tasks including FMEA’s and design reviews.

Qualifications

  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent technical and communications skills.
  • Ability to manage personal workload and willingness, flexibility and initiative to respond to shifting time and project demands.
  • A good, working knowledge of PACCAR products.
  • Proficient in RPC and FlexTest software and dynamic test methodology is recommended
  • Fosters good communications, establishes and maintains cooperative and productive work relations with all other departments.
  • Responsible for informing managers, peers, and division personnel of work progress, support, problems, scheduling conflicts, or opportunities of which they should be aware.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) related field
