Requisition Summary

PACCAR is seeking an experienced person in the area of fluids chemistry for diesel powertrains, including fuels, coolants, and exhaust fluids.
The position will involve coordinating engine fluids technology strategies between North America and Europe. It will include setting priority for internal fluids testing capability development, and act as the point person with external fluids test laboratories.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington. 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Identify PACCAR engine fluids analysis and support needs
  • Develop in-house capabilities where applicable
  • Coordinate testing with third-party laboratories
  • Lead development of standard test practice for fluids sampling and service intervals in conjunction with the engine development group
  • Develop expertise in heavy-duty diesel engine fluids technology including biofuels

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of diesel engine fuels required
  • Experience in in coolants chemistry and analysis a plus
  • Working knowledge of statistics and sampling
  • Ability to summarize technical issues and communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to manage workload and respond to shifting time and project demands
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Ability to travel

 

Physical Demands

  • May be required to lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • Regularly required to sit, stand and walk about the facility – occasionally spending extended periods of time standing, and bending or stooping
  • Occasional (<10%) travel to suppliers or industry meetings

Work Environment

  • Works in both an office and laboratory environment
  • Occasionally exposed to dust, odors, fumes and noise

Education

B.S in chemical engineering, analytical chemistry, or related field required.
