Requisition Summary

This position is located within the Advanced Powertrain organization at PTC with focus on diesel engine performance development using modeling and analysis tools. The successful candidate is required to have solid design skills as well as experience in modeling and analyses of air management systems including turbocharger. Responsibilities include model development, validation and application, leading & guiding discussions with suppliers concerning design details to meet performance target. The successful candidate is to engage with other divisions (DAF, Kenworth and Peterbilt) as well as external organizations in collaborative activities.

Division Information

The PACCAR Technical Center provides engineering excellence to the truck, engine, and winch divisions of PACCAR Inc. through innovative product development and testing. The Technical Center is located in the Skagit Valley about 65 miles north of Seattle, Washington.

 

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Use CAE tools to develop PACCAR MX engine air management systems (Turbocharger, Intake/Exhaust manifolds, EGR circuit etc.)
  • Lead and guide component selections as well as design details for engine performance development.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain computational models. Develop new methodologies.
  • Execute design optimizations using computational tools
  • Report and communicate results to team and stakeholders
  • Continuous improvement of model fidelity as well as analysis/development process

Qualifications

 

Required Qualifications & Skills

  • 5 years of experience with 1-D engine modeling, particularly for air management systems including a turbocharger
  • In-depth knowledge and design experience of charging systems (turbocharger, supercharger etc.) with CAD packages (e.g., PTC Creo)
  • Solid thermodynamics background and engine performance analysis capability
  • Excellent documentation and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated for challenges and innovations
     

Preferred Qualifications & Skills

  • Proficiency with Matlab coding and/or other programming languages
  • Experience with after-treatment system, fuel injection system and/or waste heat recovery system

 

Education

B.S. or M.S. (preferred) in Mechanical Engineering or Thermodynamics related fields.
