Requisition Summary

Promotes plant Health and Safety programs primarily working a split shift to include accident prevention, safety training, hazardous material management, ergonomics, and plant emergency team. This position will assist the Safety Manager in implementation of Dynacraft’s safety and health programs to include accident prevention, safety training, hazardous materials management, ergonomics, Department of Transportation (DOT) compliance requirements, and oversight of the safety committee team.  The travel requirement for this position is approximately 15% annually, mostly local.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Drive continuous improvement in Health and Safety, a “Safety First” culture and competence in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Under the direction of the site Safety Manager, maintain a comprehensive environmental, health, and safety program including prevention, investigation, and recording of incidents and related costs. Track and measure results and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws which also include records retention and reporting requirements.
  • Partner with operations staff to investigate accidents to identify causes; determine how such accidents might be prevented; and recommend corrective actions.
  • Develop a trusting working relationship with plant floor employees.
  • Active participation on plant’s Emergency Response and HAZMAT Teams
  • Assist Safety Manager in coordination with OSHA inspectors, fire department inspections, PACCAR insurance carriers, and local facilities departments.

Qualifications

 

  • Three years or more work experience in a safety role in manufacturing.
  • ISO 14001/18001 experience and or lead auditor training a plus.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA laws as well as local regulatory agencies.
  • Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively at various levels within the organization.
  • Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of heavy manufacturing environment and equipment.
  • Organizational skills and ability to work independently.
  • Ability to influence a safety behavioral based culture.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
  • ASP or CSP Certification preferred.
  • Electric Vehicle Experience a plus.
  • NFPA70E training a plus.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in safety or related field required.
  • Master’s degree in applicable field a plus.
  • Professional certification in safety, industrial hygiene, or hazardous materials preferred.
