Requisition Summary

The purpose of PACCAR’s Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) is to assure that purchased parts, components, and assemblies meet PACCAR drawings and specifications prior to the supplier’s shipment of production parts to PACCAR facilities. The PPAP Process includes mechanical inspections of parts and documentation of manufacturing and testing procedures. The PPAP process contains components of first article inspection or first piece setup inspection that some industries use.

Division Information

Dynacraft, a PACCAR Company, is headquartered in McKinney, TX. a suburb of Dallas. Dynacraft is a diversified global manufacturer of PACCAR medium- and heavy-duty truck parts sold under Kenworth, Peterbilt, and DAF nameplates. For fifty years Dynacraft has provided the company’s truck divisions and PACCAR Parts division with high quality components, subassemblies, and specialized services. Dynacraft has production facilities in Louisville, KY, and McKinney, TX.

Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Conduct dimensional inspection of PPAP sample components.
  • Evaluation of testing results and supporting documentation of PPAP samples to determine conformance to PACCAR PPAP requirements.
  • Creation and compilation of PPAP documentation in support of PACCAR PPAP guidelines
  • Provide technical assistance to supplier, customers, and internal personnel for understanding of PPAP requirements.
  • Verify lower-level component supplier PPAP status. Monitor, coordinate, and review supplier PPAP requests
  • Request Bill of Material, Supplier Request for Drawing Change, and part number loading
  • Submit PPAP documentation to PACCAR.

 

Skills / Competencies

  • Project management experience
  • Understanding of GD&T inspection methods and equipment
  • SAP experience
  • Romer Arm/Portable CMM experience
  • PC-DMIS experience
  • PACCAR Purchasing System (PPS) experience
  • Three (3) years of manufacturing experience
  • Lean / Six Sigma training/experience
  • Minimum two years’ experience in mechanical inspection
  • Background of working with truck manufacturer, truck service, or work with truck component manufacturer
  • ASQ CQI or CQE certification

Qualifications

  • Ability to read engineering blueprints and technical specifications and translate into part and process requirements
  • Must demonstrate ability to use a wide variety of mechanical inspection equipment, including CMM’s for inspection of mechanical assemblies and inspection plan programming
  • Experience with ISO 9000/9001/14000/14001, TS16949, or QS 9000 QMS’s in a related capacity
  • Strong organizational, written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to execute proactive strategies
  • Proficiency in MS Office; Familiarity with Minitab or the equivalent
  • Ability to multi-task and manage several projects at one time, requiring the ability to prioritize workload based on changing goals and focus
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate team efforts and work under minimal supervision

Education

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field strongly preferred.
