Requisition Summary

PACCAR’s Embedded Engineering department, which serves both Kenworth and Peterbilt, has an opening for a Technical Project Manager with extensive product or platform development experience.

As a Technical Project Manager, you will oversee a project that is establishing a global embedded systems platform led by the PACCAR Embedded Engineering department. 

These global embedded system platforms will allow PACCAR to maximize features and quality through embedded systems and software component re-use across multiple truck model variants and programs (such as BEV, ADAS, Digital Displays, etc.).  The successful candidate must coordinate between Kenworth and Peterbilt Program Management teams and the Embedded Engineering product development team in terms of schedule and status reporting.  The ideal candidate will be able to aggregate status information from multiple engineering teams in a clear and concise manner that can be provided to Program Managers and Senior Management.



Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Maintain cost, timing, schedule, and supplier interface as it pertains to the embedded systems platform.
  • Responsible for change management to track decisions and communicate the impact of request to each model variant and program.
  • Owns the RASIC and communication plan both internal and external to Embedded Engineering.
  • Responsible for platform project risk assessment and mitigation tracking.
  • Coordinates with Program Managers regarding the needs of their programs from the platform project.
  • Coordinates platform deliverables across all Embedded Engineering Department teams such as Controls Function Design, Prototyping, E/E Architecture, Technical Requirements Specifications, Hardware Development, Software Development, Software Release, and Programming & Diagnostics.
  • Provide weekly and monthly status reports to each program or organization.
  • Lead weekly team meetings and coordination of management report outs.
  • Own platform content for Executive Steering Committees, and speak to schedule, budget, & status stoplight charts.




Required / Desired Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree required.  Preferred in an Engineering discipline.
  • Experience with increasing responsibility in project development with demonstrated leadership success.
  • Prior experience with Agile Development strongly desired.
  • Project management certification preferred (PMP, PMI-ACP or other)
  • Professional and effective communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated presentation ability, including senior management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Organizational, coordination and multi-tasking experience.
  • Analytical and problem-solving experience with large-scale systems.
  • Significant experience with advanced features in Microsoft Excel, Project, and PowerPoint preferred.
  • Experience with automotive or truck embedded systems and software is preferred
  • Understanding of Application or Product Life Cycle Management is preferred
  • Experience establishing work relationships across multi-disciplinary teams and multiple partners in different time zones.
