Requisition Summary

The Software Configuration, Release & Delivery Intern will be a part of the PACCAR Embedded Engineering organization. PACCAR Embedded Engineering is a rapidly expanding organization that is transforming the way software is developed for commercial vehicle applications. The successful candidate will support a team of high performing professionals who pride themselves in developing innovative processes, setting industry standards for quality, and providing cost-effective designs. This role will be responsible for release and selection/configuration logic definition for heavy duty vehicle software and successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to the team with hands on projects and learn from the industry's leading experts. The goal of the software release engineering internship is to expose the successful candidate to the release and systems integration aspects within a software organization, delivering high quality on-time software to manufacturing facilities. The primary responsibilities of this position will cover various aspects of the V-cycle Process.

 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Define and Release configurations of software components and parameters for heavy commercial trucks.
  • Evaluate and improve processes for selecting, configuring, composing, and delivering embedded software.
  • Translate requirements into parameter calibrations for proprietary rules engine consumption.
  • Track and report progress of support activities (sales tool updates, selection logic changes, programming tool releases, software test, and any required regulatory submissions) leading to launch readiness and overall release schedule.
  • Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers as well as other professionals to ensure industry-leading quality of the content delivery is met/maintained/exceeded on all releases.
  • Individual creativity in addressing challenges and opportunities is encouraged while working within a supportive team to develop superior solutions for the heavy-duty truck industry.

 

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Currently pursuing a degree in one of the following disciplines: Engineering (Electrical, Software, or Mechanical), Computer Science, or equivalent.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, lean, collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and planning/tracking skills.
  • Competency with standard office software (word processing, spreadsheets, etc.)
  • Able to learn and use new processes and techniques and resourcefully solve complex technical issues.
  • Ability to structure logic and translate between customer-driven sales requirements and engineering-driven technical solutions.
  • Commitment to reliability, value, and quality in all aspects of work.
  • Willingness to grow continuously, both personally and professionally with a strong results and goal driven orientation.
  • Passion and interest in working on next generation electrified vehicles.

 

 

 

PREFFERRED QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS

  • Proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (MATLAB, C++, C#, etc.)
  • Active participant in a university sponsored engineering club (EcoCar, Formula SAE, SARP, Etc.)
  • Understanding of complex design and application as it impacts electrical/electronic systems, architecture, and software-driven functionality
