Requisition Summary


PACCAR is seeking energetic, independent engineers with interest in creating, defining, and launching the next generation of industry-leading trucks.  Scope of work includes analysis of potential new product designs, evaluation of customer requirements, definition of vehicle and system-level targets, defining control function requirements, and validation of vehicle-level improvements to ensure superior customer satisfaction.


Job Functions / Responsibilities


  • Develop functional and technical safety processes and requirements for heavy truck systems, including driver assistance systems, electric vehicle systems, and alternative fuel vehicles.
  • Champion development of vehicle functions with cross-functional teams.
  • Facilitate teams conducting risk and safety analyses of proposed truck systems and tests using tools such as Hazard Analysis and Risk Assessment (HARA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Lead the creation and tracking of functional safety requirements.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in automotive best practices for functional safety, Safety of the Intended Function (SOTIF), and safety in use.
  • Track design concepts and vehicle functionality through design and testing phases and provide support for validation activities.
  • Work with global teams to deliver common, cost-efficient solutions PACCAR-wide.



Qualifications & Skills


  • BS in Engineering or related field required; MS in Engineering or related field.
  • Understanding of designing, developing, and validating automotive technologies.
  • Experience in modeling and simulation of dynamic systems, preferably automotive background.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts or data in a simple-yet-accurate manner.
  • Independent judgment and effective decision-making skills.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with ISO 26262 and other international standards.
  • Familiarity with Controller Area Network (CAN) operation, especially J1939.
  • Focus on traceability and documentation.
